Play the dice game - print out the Partitioning worksheet (below) to keep a record of your work.

To make the game easy, just partition 2 digit numbers into tens and units. 

e.g. 23 partitions into 20 and 3.

To challenge yourself, find other ways of partitioning the same number,

e.g. partition 23 into 10 and 13.

To challenge yourself even further, throw the dice 3 times and partition 3 digit numbers.

e.g. 243 partitions into 200, 40 and 3.

Tip - start easy with just one bead. You can make 2 numbers with one bead - 10 and 1. 

Now try 2 beads. 

If you want to challenge yourself try more beads like in the picture below. 

With 5 beads it is possible to make the numbers 5, 50, 14.  You should be able to make 3 other numbers.
