Welcome to Early Years
On our main site we have seven classes in the Early Years department, where the pupils range from 3-8 years old.
We have also recently opened our new Addington Early Years Centre in Farley Hill, initially with two further reception classes. We aim to expand this when further building work has been completed.
We access an adapted version of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. We incorporate aspects of other curriculums and initiatives into our teaching and learning to ensure all of our pupils have access to everything they need in order to reach their full potential. Many of our children receive speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, VI and HI specialist support among other strategies to support their development.
The pupils in the Early Years classes learn through play, with the adults supporting and encouraging interaction and communication, social skills, Learning to learn skills, independence and positive behaviour. Each child has individual targets, and their day is personalised for what they need in order to thrive.
We also incorporate enriched curriculum activities such as Forest School, Yoga and Rebound as part of our weekly curriculum.
At Addington, we understand that starting school can be an anxious time for both child and parent, and we endeavor to support parents and carers in any way we can. There is so much support for families through our specialist teams and family support workers, so please do just ask!
