Supporting autistic pupils in the mainstream setting

 

This training aims to teach strategies that support and that every mainstream teacher can do to support everyone involved.

The focus is anxiety, communication, social and sensory impacts.

Pica

and

Polydipsia

Pica and Polydipsia are both increasing in prevalence in both special schools and mainstream settings.

This training looks at possible reasons for pica and polydipsia and strategies to lessen them.

Specific case study issues can be raised beforehand so as to include in the session.

 In this bite-sized session we will look at how Down’s Syndrome can impact learning and how to support pupils’ development in school.

An introduction to the visually based approach, creating highly structured environments that support pupils with autism. Using visual boundaries, schedules, and work systems.

An introduction into using communication interventions including intensive interaction, curiosity boxes and pair boxes.

The Taster gives you a general introduction into what Makaton is and who uses it, with the opportunity to learn a few signs and symbols.
