Cast rehearsals are now well underway! The pupils are having a fantastic time preparing for the performance which draws ever closer. Emails regarding tickets should be going out soon, so keep an eye out for them as they will be limited.

As we come to the end of the first half of the Spring term, the choir and chorus rehearsals for The Wizard of Oz are in full swing! The pupils have learnt 'Over the Rainbow', 'Ding Dong' and 'Yellow Brick Road' so far, with many more to come after the half term break.

January 2024

The Creative Arts Blog is back with a bang as we start preparation for our whole school production of Wizard of Oz! The pupils have started to audition for roles in the musical, and letters will be going out with details about the production over the next week. Keep checking back here for more updates as rehearsals progress!

Our WASMA choir performed at The Hexagon yesterday. They attended an afternoon rehearsal before performing to large audience. They sang a range of songs from the 1920s up to present day to celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II. They were part of a choir of 400 children. They all did incredibly well and we are very proud of them.

6 of our students have been rehearsing for the WASMA concert which takes place on Sunday 12th March at The Hexagon. Today they visited the venue to look around, learn where the choir and audience will sit as well as a back stage tour.

Today we hosted our Special Superstar auditions. We so many amazing performances from KS2, KS3 and KS4. We will be auditioning more plus our 6th form next week before deciding who our Superstars will be for the concert in June.

Today we had a trio of musicians from Berkshire Maestros come and host a workshop with some of our KS2 and 3 students. They explored how sound changes through weather pictures with students during in with percussion instruments.

Today we started our rehearsals with our choir for the WASMA concert in March. 6 students are taking part in this event this year. The songs are from different decades over the last 90 years to celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The concert is on Sunday 12th March at The Hexagon. We are very excited to get going!

Don't forget it is the Addington Association Carol Concert tonight! 7pm at Addington School in the large hall. Refreshments will be served afterwards in the Sixth Form Café.

13/12/2022

Our last and busiest carol singing day yet. Maple Class visited Twyford Age Concern to sing to the day guests. Sixth Form visited National Grid and was welcomed by current and former Addington students to sing in their lovely atrium. In the afternoon, many of our students faced the bitter cold to sing down at Woodley Precinct. It was wonderful to see parents come down to listen to us sing. It has been amazing to get out in the community again for the first time since 2019.

Today's carol singing trip was to Shute End Council Offices in Wokingham. It was great to be singing back here where faces pop up from every direction to hear the students sing.

Today we had a Pantomime visit the school. KS2 and 3 students attended and enjoyed the performances. There was also another carol singing trip, this time we visited The Birches across the road.

Today's carol singing trip was to Peach Place in Wokingham with KS4 students. Our students were full of singing and smiles with the public stopping to listen.

Today we started our carol singing programme with a visit to Shinfield View Care Home. This is a new venue and our students were warmly welcomed by the residents.

Today, our 6th students hosted an Art Gallery event in the 6th form hall. The event has been planned, resourced and hosted by all our 6th form students with classes across the school coming to visit over the course of the afternoon. Art work was included from across the whole school.

Our Reading Junior Music Festival choir performed at The Hexagon last night. They attended a rehearsal in the afternoon with all schools. They did themselves very proud learning so many songs with Makaton signs. They were certainly the stars of the show. Well done everyone!

4 students have been rehearsing for the Reading Junior Music Festival. They visited Earley St. Peter's School for a mass rehearsal. They also visited the Hexagon ready for their final rehearsal and performance next week.

Hi everyone,

Here is the last edition of The Addington Show this academic year! In this show there we look at what the students have been up to this summer term. There are performances from our students who have instrumental lessons as well as those in KS2 who have taken part in a Mini Proms with Martin. There are also a couple of class performances too. We also want to say a big thank you to everyone for supporting and engaging with the show. We love all your pictures and videos and seeing all the amazing things you do in school and at home. Preparations are well under way for our Key Stage 2 production of The Earth Crown. Some classes have made masks ready to do some filming and others are working on drama scenes with Chris the drama teacher, Performances are next half term!

Our drum students shared their talents with friends this afternoon in the the drum concert. All students who have drum lessons were able to show their skills and perform, supported by our visiting drum teacher Luke.

We really enjoyed out guitar concert this afternoon. All of the students who have lessons with our visiting guitar teacher Martin had the chance to share their skills with their friends. It was really exciting to see how much talent and enthusiasm our students have.

Some of our Complex needs students enjoyed a performance of Makara and the Mountain Dragon today. The performance is ran for small groups throughout the day and students were fully immersed through amazing props, lights and sound. The Dragon puppet was amazing!

We are so proud of all of our students who have performed brilliantly in Moon Zoom! Well done to everyone that took part!

Our KS3 students have worked hard to prepare for their production of Moon Zoom, with their final dress rehearsal today going well. All of the classes have worked on a scene and some classes are sharing their immersive theatre work. We enjoyed performing to some children from Willowbank Junior school today and look forward to our performance to parents and friends tomorrow!

Another amazing performance by Addington students last night at Bulmershe Theatre. Our SingIN choir raised the roof as they performed with their buddies from Waingels College and Highwood Primary school, along with our staff choir and a rock band. The joy of singing and the friendship of everyone on stage was clear to see as the audience were treated to a set of rock and pop songs. Well done to everyone that took part!

Congratulations to our cast of A Midsummer Nights Dream for a a fantastic performance at South Hill Park as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival. They spoke clearly, with expression and confidence and there was lots of humour to make the audience laugh. They should be really proud of their performance.

Our Shakespeares School cast has been working hard to put together their performance of A Midsummer Nights Dream ready to perform at South Hill Park on Wednesday as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival. The final dress rehearsal is tomorrow and we can't wait to see their final performance.

Another busy day of rehearsals with our Midsummer Cast putting the finishing touches on their production and the SingIN choir getting together for a whole choir rehearsal.

Our choir for SingIN met their buddies today at the lauch day at Waingels College. Lots of friendships started and we are really looking forward to getting to know choirs from Waingels and Highwood over the half term. We will be meeting for weekly rehearsals and learning lots of songs ready for our concert in October.
